We offer both clinical (human trial) and preclinical (animal) corneal endothelial analysis here at Specular Solutions. We strive to offer the most accurate, reliable, and reproducible corneal endothelial in our industry. We can also help you identify clinical sites that take reliable and readable corneal endothelial photos for analysis (if that is a need that you have). We also will certify these sites before the study, to ensure that everything will go smoothly in the electronic data transfer and in the quality of the images that we will receive. We will also help train clinical sites if they need help taking the best and clearest images from the more difficult patients such as those with glaucoma.
We also offer IOL Lens rotation measurements for our clients. We understand that this is a critical measurement for Toric IOL's for our clients, their patients, and the FDA. This is mostly for Toric IOL's, we but will can measure IOL rotation over time for any type of lens. Additionally, we offer Choroidal Thickness Measurements usually using OCT images. This can be using a manual method or automated method.
We also offer In Vitro Corneal Specular Perfusion studies for Pre and Post clinical drug and solution screening. This is needed to ascertain if a drug or solution formula may negatively affect the corneal endothelium (usually pre FDA trial). This is usually done with Eye Bank Human corneas that have been designated for research purposes that are available from the Georgia Eye Bank. Fresh rabbit corneas can also be used. We can accurately measure changes in corneal thickness over time and can have the corneas histologically assessed, which can include scanning (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) if desired.
Our quality assurance process for our corneal endothelial reading is what creates the most value for our clients. It is the most important part of our analysis process that helps create the accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility that we pride ourselves with. With over 30 years of experience doing this type of analysis and quality assurance (for peer-reviewed published data and for FDA submissions), Glenn Holley, Chief Science Officer, we believe, gives us the edge over everyone in our field. Each dot (center dot method of analysis) of each image is checked for accuracy for all of our client’s images. We also offer dual grading with expert arbitration (Glenn Holley is our expert arbiter), if that is preferred by our client.
Glenn Holley trained and worked with Henry F. Edelhauser, Ph.D. for over 22 years at both the Medical College of Wisconsin and Emory University Eye Center. The late Hank Edelhauser is renowned as one of the top corneal researchers in the world with an extensive resume in specular microscopy and corneal endothelial cell analysis. We believe that Glenn probably has more experience doing this type of analysis compared to anyone in our field, with over 75,000 images analyzed for our clients in the past 15 years here at Specular Solutions. When you take into account the approximately 25,000 images analyzed for peer-reviewed articles and FDA submissions (while directing the Emory University Corneal Endothelial Cell Reading Center) while working with Hank Edelhauser, you have over 100,000 images accurately and reliably analyzed.
We are completely committed to accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility over time in terms of our analysis and on-time delivery. We offer STAT delivery of services (within 48 hours) and standard delivery (usually 5-10 days). We are committed to competitive pricing for all of our services and they are negotiable.
